About Amanda

From a young age, Amanda knew one thing about herself: she did not want to feel weak. That feeling, that drive to feel capable and strong in her own body, is what led her to boxing at 15.

She was working at a vet clinic, cleaning kennels, reading newspaper clippings as she went. One of them had a small photo of kids holding boxing gloves. A club at the Salvation Army in Pasadena. Something about it pulled at her and she just showed up. She was the only girl there. It was still pretty taboo for women to be in boxing at the time. She didn't care. She trained hard, competed, and found out quickly that she was good at it. For the first time she felt exactly the way she had always wanted to feel: strong, capable, like she could take care of herself.

Then life hit. The way it does for most people. Things shifted, responsibilities grew, and at a certain point Amanda found herself needing to start over. Not in fitness, in everything. And when the ground moved, she went back to the one thing she had always known. She went back to training. Back to building herself up from the foundation. That experience changed something in how she saw her work. Because she knows what it actually feels like to stand at the beginning of something hard and not know where to start.

Being around coaches during that time made something click. She watched them help people move, grow, and show up differently in their own lives. She wanted to do that. She went and got her NASM certification because she saw firsthand how foundational strength training is for everything else. Then her Precision Nutrition certification because she knows the work does not stop when you leave the gym.

What she learned through all of it is that there is no one size fits all. There never was. The people who come to her are not looking to be destroyed by a workout. They are looking for someone who will pay attention, adjust, teach, and show up for them the same way she has had to show up for herself. Every session is built around where you are that day. Not where she thinks you should be. Not where you were last week. Where you are right now.

That is what Counterpunch Training is built on. Not a method. A life.

HOW I COACH

No one size fits all.
Ever.

Every session starts with a conversation. How are you feeling today? What is your body telling you? What has the week been like? The answer to those questions shapes everything that follows.

Some days you push. Some days you pull back. Some days the goal is just to show up and move. Amanda pays attention to where you actually are, not where a program says you should be. She teaches as she goes, so you understand what your body is doing and why. You leave knowing more than when you walked in. That is the whole point.

Strength training is the foundation of every session. Everything else, mobility, nutrition, the lifestyle conversations, builds from there. It is not complicated. It is just consistent, intentional, and built around you.
